ABVP Rally at New Delhi on 26 november

From the very morning, roads of Delhi geared up with the foot steps of ABVP activists from all over the country. Over 1 lakh students gathered here in Ramleela Maidan demanding of Changes in Education and for Employment under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad. Procession started from 5 points and converged at Ramleela Maidan.

After the ABVP delegation returned meeting the Prime Minister the public meeting at Ramleela Maidan started with Saraswati Vandana. With the Guest introduction by Mr. Ranjeet Thakur (State President, Delhi) Mr. Sunil Bansal (National Sec.) placed the introduction of rally. Mr. Kailash Sharma (National President) in his speech illustrated the awareness of student, he said - "last year in Jamshedpur NEC of ABVP decided to agitate against of education and employment policies of central govt." Dr. Kailash Sharma said that ABVP wants a logical debate on changes in education and for this awareness is in need which can only be possible by the yatras and agitations. He said this historic rally of students is a rare event of its kind in the world and is a signal to govt. that youth in India is now up against unemployment.

Mr. Vijay Goel (MOS PMO) who was present on the dias as the representative of the Prime Minister to accept the 12 lakh signatures collected by ABVP said that ABVP is an unique organisation which believes in developing good human beings in the society and also admitted that whatever he has achieved in his own life is all because of his long association with ABVP during his student days. He also assured the students that PMO will take care of these demands and would work out whatever is possible to.

Mr. Atul Kothari (National Secretary) citing examples from Jayprakash Narayan's life said in that it is necessary at present to boycott the Marx and Maculay system so that education will become more effective. He said that this rally is a proof that the students are now aware of the ineffectiveness of this system and its bad impacts on the society. Mr. Sunil Ambekar (National Joint Organising Secretary) said that ABVP is organising this rally so that political parties, politicians, WTO, IMFand developed countries can understand that the youth of India can safeguard his interests himself.

Mr. Subash Sharma ( State Secretary of Punjab), Mr. Amitabh Chakravarti (Organisation Secretary, North Bengal) and Mr. Nakul Bharadwaj of Delhi University also did put their regional problems and made a call to youths for making good educational environment.

Mr. Dattatreya (National Organisational Secretary) said that this rally is not in favour or in opposition of anybody but it is a beginning of the reorganisation of the students for nationalism and patriotism. He said that rally is a "Swadesh Rally" and in future it will be "Sandesh rally and in the last it will be "Sangharsh Rally".

He said that no one can make everybody fool for all the time, and this time students have organised under ABVP for their rights, (Education and Employment).

At last Mr. Ramesh Pappa of J & K (National General Secretary) told the gathering that Prime Minister had agreed to accept first 4 demands of ABVP's charter of demands.

(i). Education Policy should be based on Indian thought and philosophy.

(ii) Indian History curriculum should be framed in a manner by which the students will feel proud for the country.

(iii)There should be centres for Research and Excellence.

(iv) Medium of study must be in Indian Languages with reference to Hindi. Supremacy of English should be reduced and finally eradicate.

He, while attacking Pakistan sponsored Terrorism war is necessary. Beside this he criticised Congress for supporting J&K Govt. and briefly made severe comments on communist parties. In his speech he said for the sake of our demands this rally is just a beginning and the next steps will be charted out in Calicut(Kerala) where our national conference will be held in the month of December.
