  • Follow-up of Education & Employment Movement
  • Continuing the above movement, the following activities have been decided for the next term of the academic year:

ABVP opposes the proposal to include 'Education' under the GATS and making it a market commodity. Hence the ABVP demands that education be kept out of GATS preview.

The employment opportunity is fast decreasing in the country due to WTO regulations and agreements, which ABVP deplores.

It is, therefore decided to hold protest programmes with the above two demands prior to the Ministerial Conference of WTO at Mexico in Sept. 2003.

Therefore, this programme is organized all over country during the week 5-31 Aug. 2003 as Save Education-Promote Employment week. (Shiksha Bachao - Rojgar Badhao).

Various activities like public meetings, procession, demonstration, symposia etc. must be held during the week at all levels from unit to state level.

(It may be mentioned here that Swadeshi Jagran Manch has organized Swadeshi Yatras and a Mass Dharna (Mahadhama) will be held on Sept. 2nd in New Delhi to protest WTO regime, and also to demand the Union Govt. to play effective role in protecting Bharat's interest , at the forthcoming Mexico conference. ABVP is supporting SJM's activity and students from neighbouring states of Delhi, and student leaders from all over the country should participate in the Mahadhama).
